Handmade Quilt Top Dress
DESCRIPTIONThe last of three sweet dresses made by my mother and me. This one was my favorite and remained in my closet for some time, but it is now time to pass her along. The dress is constructed out of an antique lace yoke and quilt top, gathered by hand, then machine sewn to the yoke. Quilt top is hand sewn with a selvedge hem. The result is a deliciously flowy yet sturdy piece of wearable history. It fits a range of sizes depending on desired fit, and straps have room to be let out if desired.
Model wears an XS/S, and I wear a M/L. On a smaller person, the lace may fall on the bust, but it falls just above the bust on me. Measures 20” across bust seam (wear lace meets quilt), and 46” length from base of strap. Model is 5’7”.
Quilt top is an antique and has some very faint spots of discoloration, but nothing noticeable when worn.
